It is fierce and solidly demonstrates just how those sailors felt.

It’s actually Operation Market Garden a colossal operation that the Allies botched nearly every part of. Although this film is not exclusively about Germany either, it also belongs to the genre of German war movies after true events as one depicts how the Germans fought back. This movie brings to life these real characters trying to make a difference and it is sad, moving, you name it. The tale of the last months in her life before being executed.

Another war movie of yesteryear that’s still suitable for viewing:The Bridge Directed by Bernhard Wicki (1961) which also highlighted on a group of German boys who are compelled to fight for the bridge at the end of war. This movie is based on true events and literally shows the downsides of war towards its end. It’s a heartbreaking but necessary glimpse at the impact war has on the most youthful.
Stalingrad (1993)
The Battle of Stalingrad is considered one of the most drawn-out and destructive battles of WWII, and this movie reflects that. The Germans committed atrocities in Stalingrad against Soviet citizens that arguably eclipsed the horrors German soldiers were subjected to during this most infamous battle. Alright, so The Pianist isn’t exactly a German war movie, but its a WWII film that portrays Nazi takeover – I could not just leave it out. It is based on the autobiography of Władysław Szpilman, a Jewish pianist who lived through the Holocaust. It’s a fantastic movie that proves you can overcome anything and the fact that it’s based on a true story just makes it even better.
The Captain (2017)
The Captain is a film that takes place during the closing days of WWII and follows the true story of a German soldier named Willi Herold who masquerades as an SS officer. Show how nuts things turned out without law or order in that dark and twisted movie. A one of a kind and terrifying film that puts the war movie standard to shame for being based on true events.
Generation War (2013)
Technically, this one is a miniseries but it was so good I had to include it. Strangers at Season 1 Gen War, Capable of Forgiving: Rather notorious in its native Germany, where it was shown on TV without commercial breaks, this five-hour WWII epic begins in 1941 as a bunch of Berlin posh-school pals add one more name to their guest list and farewell dinner on the eve of Operation Barbarossa. It does show the war from several different angles and how it impacted regular people which is good since it isn’t about one isolated event. It is a very emotional to watch and it really shows how every war changes everything.
